But users of Coinbase Pro, a sister site to Coinbase and a far more advanced trading platform aimed at professional investors and traders, had to do all their trading on the desktop -- until now.
On Thursday, the company launched Coinbase Pro for iOS, allowing users to check prices, monitor their portfolios, and buy and sell crypto on the go.

Coinbase says that a mobile version of Coinbase Pro was a highly requested feature, which isn't particularly surprising, given that the desktop version of the service has been around for years. (Coinbase Pro is a rebrand of GDAX, which was launched in 2015.) A company spokesperson told me via e-mail that Coinbase worked for more than a year on Coinbase Pro for mobiles, building the app from the ground up.
