The 大分 ポルノ映画Japanese American Cultural and Community Center will hold its 34thanniversary celebration and awards dinner on Saturday, June 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza, 251 S. Olive St., Los Angeles.
With “Fashion Forward” as the theme, the JACCC will celebrate the style of Japanese American designers.
The 2014 Chairman’s Award will go to Tadashi Shoji, a Japanese-born American designer and founder of the Tadashi Shoji Collection. He is known internationally for his original designs and innovative gown lines for women of all ages, ethnicities and figures. Shoji has continued to show his support by helping to bridge the Japanese American community and the fashion industry through his gown donations to various organizations.
The 2014 Pacific Pioneer Award will go to Anne Namba, a creative and passionate designer and founder of Anne Namba Designs, known for her “Kimono Couture” clothing line. Namba continues to use Asian themes as her inspiration for her designs. She has generously contributed her talents in support of the JACCC through events over the past few years.
The Community Spirit Award was created to recognize the unsung heroes of the community; the individuals whose unwavering dedication and commitment have had an immeasurable impact on the people and organizations around them. To shine a light on the contributions of these dedicated individuals, the JACCC launched a campaign in 2012 seeking nominations from the community through email and the JACCC website.
The JACCC continues to recognize individuals who are making a significant impact on the community through arts, activism, social services, or business. This year an overwhelming number of nominations was received from the community. The recipients of the third annual Community Spirit Award are Victor Fukuhara, Nancy Kikuchi, and Michael Okamura.
The event will start with a silent auction and cocktail reception, followed by dinner and the awards program.

On Sunday, June 8, there will be an exclusive Anne Namba Designs trunk show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Japanese Garden and Garden Room at the JACCC, 244 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo. Light refreshments will be served. Namba will be donating 15 percent of sales to the JACCC.
